In 2001, the Southern California Interclub Association of Figure Skating Clubs initiated a Memorial Grant Program in memory of Betty Sonnhalter, an official and member of the local skating community for many years. This grant was created to honor her many years of dedication to young ice skaters.
Each year two skaters are selected by an Interclub committee from applications submitted by Interclub Member Club skaters. One grant is for Novice skaters and above, and one is for Intermediate through Juvenile skaters. The two recipients for 2021 will receive a $500 later in the year. Previous recipients in each category group are not eligible to reapply in the same group.
The application requires: (1) a signature from a Club Official, (2) that each applicant completes the forms on his or her own, (3) the information provided is accurate, and (4) an official copy of school grades for the current and past year. Applications that are incomplete will not be considered. Applications that are not completed by the applying skater will not be considered.
Applications for 2021 must be received or postmarked by August 29, 2021.

As the reconfigured 2020-21 season continues, the Novice athletes and all levels of Dance have completed their virtual event during February. Here is an update of that activity.
Congratulations to All Year FSC members who participated in the Novice level events of the 2021 U.S. Figure Skating Championship Series Presented by Toyota, which was held as a virtual event!
See the list, below, for skaters placements and those who have currently qualified for the 2021 National High Performance Development Team.
We also want to wish the very best of luck to all our members who are submitting their audition video during the month of March. As the auditions for Juvenile and Intermediate singles and pairs are completed, and more skaters are added to the National High Performance Development Team, we will update those home club members on our website.
Congratulations to those whom have already participated in this season’s events and best of luck to those in the process of submitting video.
Your figure skating community and family at All Year Figure Skating Club. We are very proud of each of you.
In Honor and In Memory of Morry Stillwell
All Year FSC is saddened by the passing of our dear friend and mentor, Morry Stillwell, on December 25, 2020. All Year FSC sends its deepest condolences to Morry’s wife, Elda, daughter, Lisa, and their family. The skating community, of Southern California, has lost a leader, mentor and friend, who had great passion and drive to always bring the very best out of each skater, official and club member.
All Year FSC will be forever grateful to Morry’s years of service, as a past member of All Year FSC, and most especially for being one of the founding members of our flagship competition, Golden West Championships. Recently, he was instrumental in the creation of our own showcase event, The Curtain Call. Morry’s vision and passion brought significant changes to figure skating, as he was a catalyst in the creation of so many events that our club and the skating community enjoy annually. We can only hope, that as a skating club, we can carry this torch into the future. Without a doubt, Morry’s presence and guidance will be missed.
