Dear All Year FSC members and all members of the U.S. Figure Skating family,
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of one of our dearest members. Ann Udell passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016. Ann was a past President and Life Member of All Year FSC. She will be remembered for many things that she contributed to our local community as well as the U.S. and World Figure Skating Hall of Fame and Museum.
Many of us met Ann for the first time when we entered Udell Photo Studios for a photo sitting with her husband, Bill Udell. Over the years, Ann could be seen helping out in almost any volunteer capacity known. Ann was the penultimate volunteer. She did everything from being an ice monitor to Chairing numerous events hosted by All Year FSC. More recent activities include greeting skaters and parents at the Registration desk of various competitions. Ann was always warm and welcoming and wanted each skater to do their very best.
Ann shared her love of skating with everyone. She was also quite knowledgeable about skating history in Los Angeles, as well as the United States. Ann contributed many articles and information to various publications. She provided an excellent history for the 2002 US Figure Skating Championships program when the U.S. Championships were hosted in Los Angeles by the All Year Figure Skating Club.
Ann served on the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame committee and assisted in the nominations of and research for the many persons whom are considered by the committee, for induction to the Hall of Fame. Ann is our Hall of Fame star and we will miss her very much.
The family is planning to have a private service for Ann. However, if you wish to recognize and/or show your gratitude to Ann, donations may be sent to any one of the following organizations in her honor:
- U.S. Figure Skating Memorial Fund
- All Year Figure Skating Club
- East Valley Animal Shelter
All three organizations have websites that accept donations. Donation gift notifications may be sent to:
All Year Figure Skating Club, 2033 High Tower Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90068
We will be sure to share all notifications with the family.
Rest in peace Ann.
